Cleaning: a little more straightforward
If you're used to using a cotton pad soaked in lotion to wash your face in the morning... that might not be enough for the hot weather! Especially if you wake up with a greasy T-zone. So, to avoid getting shiny again at 9:30 a.m., use a suitable cleansing product.
Of course, the challenge here is to find the right balance between a purifying cleanse that clears the way and a stripping cleanse that leads to reactive seborrhea. The line between the two can be thin and, above all, it depends largely on your level of skin sensitivity.
If you're worried about your skin reacting defensively, opt for an astringent cleanser formulated with non-ionic surfactants (the gentlest in the game, whose only drawback is that it produces little foam). Take Indie Lee's Purifying Cleansing Gel , for example, which also contains no fragrance or essential oils. It helps restore a fresh, clear complexion without feeling tight.
If you feel like your skin needs a bit more of a tough cleanse to get rid of excess sebum, try Savon Stories soaps. Soap No. 2 Le Régulateur (Charcoal & Nigella) is ideal for cleaning oily skin with its refreshing blend of plants and fruits. If you have a lot of shine and blackheads, go for it with Miracle des Mers.
Care: all in lightness
Do you have combination to oily skin that quickly becomes shiny during the day? Forget moisturizers this summer. They are often too rich in film-forming agents, waxes and gums, which will make you shine every time. Opt for fluids, gels or even fine sebum-regulating oils.
For combination skin: when the good weather returns, we love Odacité's Green Smoothie , a fresh emulsion that's surprisingly light on the skin. Non-comedogenic, it offers an instant thirst-quenching effect with a cocktail of green extracts with plumping and rebalancing properties.
For oily skin: even more lightness with La Canopée Perfect Skin Fluid , which contains naturally softening and mattifying pink clay. It also helps prevent the appearance of imperfections thanks to its purifying blend of tea tree, clary sage and bergamot.
Do you prefer oils? Since they don't really hydrate, apply them over a humectant serum. For example, you can create your winning combo with Hyaluronic serum 200 (which absorbs quickly!) and squalane oil (reducing the dosage to 2 drops for the summer).
Makeup: no overdoing it
As you can imagine, the ideal way to avoid overloading your skin in the summer is to not put anything on it! If you really want to wear makeup, you'll have to be cunning with a minimalist routine. And above all, with formulas that aren't too oily and mattifying powders that you should always keep on hand.
If makeup tends to slide on your oily skin, apply a setting primer under your complexion products. You can opt for Ilia's True Skin Radiant Priming Serum , which erases imperfections and brings out the glow without clogging pores.
As for your complexion, limit yourself if possible to applying a concealer to the areas that need to be unified. Ilia's Stick is ideal for this purpose, as it is a concealer, foundation and contouring product (with a dark shade). It has a natural matte finish and a non-comedogenic formula.
Finish with a veil of powder, to be reapplied during the day if some shine appears despite your efforts. Opt for the Tinted powder from RMS (tinted) which acts like a unifying silk veil or for the Soft focus Ilia (translucent) with a mattifying and blurring effect on imperfections.
