Therapy from the Earth

Céline Julien is fascinated by the power of plants. The founder of Ma Thérapie grew up surrounded by nature and quickly became passionate about the virtues that were at hand. After studying naturopathy and herbal medicine, she completed her knowledge by following training in aromatherapy and nutrition. From this learning is born the desire for organic, accessible and effective formulas… Ma Thérapie and its response in order to give each woman access to beauty rituals that are good for health and for the planet. She talks to us today about the history of her brand.

Happy Officine: You grew up in contact with nature. You talk about the importance of plant essences and the power of plants . Do you remember some family tricks that you applied on a daily basis ( herbal remedies , etc. ) and continue to apply ?

Céline Julien: I always bet on infusions: lemon verbena with chamomile to soothe me in the evening, through peppermint to digest. I also developed a passion for essential oils at a very young age, with a preference for lavender, orange and bigarade petitgrain. My grandfather made his honey, today my father has taken over. So the infusions of verbena with thousand flower honey from Normandy still remind me of the sweetness of my childhood.

HO : You have studied naturopathy as well as herbal medicine , aromatherapy and nutrition How do these different disciplines stemming from alternative medicine complement each other ? in the world of beauty ?

CJ: They allowed me to approach beauty holistically. In naturopathy, we learn above all to balance the different systems of the body (digestive, nervous, hormonal, cutaneous, etc.). Everything is connected. For therapy, the naturopath looks for the cause of the imbalance and accompanies it in a natural way. This is where aromatherapy and herbal medicine come in. They are tools, natural remedies to treat everyday ailments and tend towards balance, health and therefore beauty.

HO: Your brand, Ma Th érapie, was born from an intuition . How did it all start ? How did you start and what was your first product ?

CJ: The idea germinated during my training. The education I received and the holistic approach to this discipline made me want to create a concept that brings together the foundations and techniques of naturopathy. Then, I settled into my office and the practice, the work in the field, confirmed my desire to go further.

I launched 9 products at the same time, care and nutritional supplements. They have been designed globally and with an approach to the essential needs of the skin.

“Ma Thérapie is a brand of beauty, but above all a concept of well-being.”

HO: Why did you call your brand that ?

CJ: Because it subtly evokes the idea that beauty is not just about applying the right cream. It is the reflection of our balance and our interior. Ma Thérapie is a brand of beauty, but above all a concept of well-being. We share tips daily to help our community and our clients uplift and feel in tune with themselves. This is the mission I gave myself when creating My Therapy.

HO: How is your brand organic and artisanal? Tell us about the product design process?

CJ: We find our raw materials in organic crops, the formulas are clean and between 99 and 100% natural and between 85 and 100% organic. We work with French laboratories that have manual manufacturing processes, they are structures on a human scale with craftsmen who love their job and who believe in natural and sustainable agriculture.

“We have chosen to eliminate the superfluous and to develop intelligent packaging. Our violet glass bottles are recyclable and we are gradually developing refills.”

HO : It 's also eco - friendly . Tell us more!

CJ: We have chosen to eliminate the superfluous and to develop intelligent packaging. Our recyclable violet glass bottles are carefully chosen for their quality of preservation of the formulas. We are gradually developing refills, our packages have no over-packaging and we promote the use of recycled and recyclable materials such as 100% recycled paper and cardboard... In order to improve ourselves, we are constantly thinking about these subjects that are important to us. to heart.

HO: At the heart of your rituals are the essential needs of the skin. Can you explain them to us more precisely ?

CJ: The beauty industry tends to create superfluous needs. We wanted to go back to basics with simple formulas, rich in biological active ingredients, which respond in a natural, specific and respectful way to the real needs of the skin: cleansing, hydration, nutrition, external and internal protection.

HO: You imagine blends of often unexpected scents like shea butter , almond , honey and coffee for your exfoliating treatment . Where do you get these ideas from ?

CJ: I first choose active ingredients for their properties, my strength is my knowledge of aromatherapy and phytotherapy. Then we refine, we assemble to give a theme whose olfactory alliance harmonizes with the effectiveness of the product. I love creating the formulas, it's the part of my job that I enjoy the most. I am inspired by nature, the earth, I need to be in contact with it to be able to find new ideas.

HO: Do you have something new that you would like to reveal to us ?

CJ: We will release a new face serum at the end of the year.

HO: Finally, how would you like to complete your range ? What products do you dream of developing ?

CJ: We would really like to create products for spas and expand our range of beauty and wellness food supplements.
